REPO is a path to a 18Subversion repository mirrored on the local disk. Remote Subversion 19repositories can be mirrored on local disk using the `svnsync` 20command. 21 22Note: this tool is very young. The details of its commandline 23interface may change in backward incompatible ways. 24 25INPUT FORMAT 26------------ 27Subversion's repository dump format is documented in full in 28`notes/dump-load-format.txt` from the Subversion source tree. 29Files in this format can be generated using the 'svnadmin dump' or 30'svk admin dump' command. 31 32Dumps produced with 'svnadmin dump --deltas' (dumpfile format v3) 33are not supported. 34 35OUTPUT FORMAT 36------------- 37The fast-import format is documented by the git-fast-import(1) 38manual page. 39 40NOTES 41----- 42Subversion dumps do not record a separate author and committer for 43each revision, nor a separate display name and email address for 44each author. Like git-svn(1), 'svn-fe' will use the name 45 46--------- 47user <user@UUID> 48--------- 49 50as committer, where 'user' is the value of the `svn:author` property 51and 'UUID' the repository's identifier. 52 53To support incremental imports, 'svn-fe' puts a `git-svn-id` line at 54the end of each commit log message if passed an url on the command 55line. This line has the form `git-svn-id: URL@REVNO UUID`. 56 57The resulting repository will generally require further processing 58to put each project in its own repository and to separate the history 59of each branch.
