1git-unpack-objects(1) 2===================== 3 4NAME 5---- 6git-unpack-objects - Unpack objects from a packed archive 7 8 9SYNOPSIS 10-------- 11'git-unpack-objects' [-n] [-q] [-r] [--strict] <pack-file 12 13 14DESCRIPTION 15----------- 16Read a packed archive (.pack) from the standard input, expanding 17the objects contained within and writing them into the repository in 18"loose" (one object per file) format. 19 20Objects that already exist in the repository will *not* be unpacked 21from the pack-file. Therefore, nothing will be unpacked if you use 22this command on a pack-file that exists within the target repository. 23 24Please see the `git-repack` documentation for options to generate 25new packs and replace existing ones. 26 27OPTIONS 28------- 29-n:: 30 Dry run. Check the pack file without actually unpacking 31 the objects. 32 33-q:: 34 The command usually shows percentage progress. This 35 flag suppresses it. 36 37-r:: 38 When unpacking a corrupt packfile, the command dies at 39 the first corruption. This flag tells it to keep going 40 and make the best effort to recover as many objects as 41 possible. 42 43--strict:: 44 Don't write objects with broken content or links. 45 46 47Author 48------ 49Written by Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org> 50 51Documentation 52------------- 53Documentation by Junio C Hamano 54 55GIT 56--- 57Part of the linkgit:git[1] suite
